How Assurdly improved quality assurance for Indicina products and team

Indicina is a challenger Credit Agency that uses advanced machine learning technology to build powerful decision-making tools that unearth unique customer financial data. They offer technology solutions to empower businesses to offer credit to customers faster, more securely and at scale.

Problem
Our client wanted to improve quality assurance around its products and team as it was hindering their growth. They didn’t have a quality assurance team or well-defined quality assurance standards.

Our Approach
Our first step, which was in line with Indicina’s goal of scalable quality assurance, was to review the existing development, quality review and deployment processes and documentation, to understand their maturity model.

After identifying gaps and creating a plan to close them, we introduced an Agile playbook for the development team which paved the way for aligned development and quality assurance at every stage of the development cycle. A roadshow to sensitive the team on best practices was the next step, as well as nominating and training process champions to ensure adoption and compliance amongst teams. We also created systems, processes, and guidelines to aid in onboarding new team members.

Afterwards, we expanded the QA team at our recommendation to Indicina, to assist them release software faster, with high quality. Some teams had Engineers only and relied on ad-hoc inefficient testing, leading to bugs in production with every release. We recruited, interviewed and placed one QA in each team.

Result
The creation of new systems, QA Engineer-led teams and the introduction of an agile playbook made onboarding employees easier and minimised key man risk for organisational success. With reduced key man risk, there was more room for organisational resilience and continuity.
